Avani Mathur, MPH
Avani Mathur is a public health professional with a passion for using technology, real-world evidence, and data analytics to improve healthcare access and equity. She holds an MPH in Epidemiology with a minor in Health Economics from Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh Honors College with dual degrees in Biological Sciences and Sociology. Avani's interest in public health was ignited during her time working with a diverse set of underinsured patients as a medical assistant in primary care. This experience provided her with invaluable insights into the healthcare disparities faced by patients in the post-COVID era. They also motivated her to explore ways to enhance telehealth utilization within primary care, ultimately leading her to conduct research on the determinants of telehealth utilization toward her graduate thesis. Avani now works with the DHA to enhance the quality and availability of virtual healthcare in the military healthcare system.
